How to write a cold pitch to brands

The 4-paragraph cold pitch structure that gets brand responses. Real templates included.

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Cold pitches that work follow the same structure.

The 4-paragraph framework

1. Specific hook. Reference something real about the brand — a recent campaign, product, or value. Not "I love your brand."

2. Proof of fit. One sentence on why your audience is theirs. Numbers + niche.

3. The ask. Concrete proposal — format, deliverables, suggested rate range. Brands want options, not "let me know if interested."

4. Easy close. "Happy to send a media kit" + scheduling link. Make the next step zero friction.

Template

Hi [Name],

Loved your Spring 2026 launch — the [specific product] copy was sharp.

I make [niche] content for [audience size] [demographic] on [platform]. My last 3 posts about [adjacent category] averaged [engagement number].

Would you be open to a sponsored Reel ($X) or a 3-post package ($Y) showcasing [specific product]? Both formats have worked well for similar brands in my space.

Happy to send a media kit. [Booking link] if easier.

What to avoid

  • "I love your brand" (everyone says this)
  • Vague rates or "let me know your budget"
  • Walls of text — keep it under 150 words

Under 150 words. Brand managers scan, they don't read.
